A brilliant opportunity for children and young people to make friends, expand their musical repertoire and let their voices take over!
As ambassadors for the Philharmonia Orchestra in Bedford Trust, we’re able to help people attend classical concerts, who might not otherwise have the opportunity.
Singers wanted of all ages to fill Bedford Town Centre with the joyous sound of music and song. We will be singing a specially commissioned piece written by Des Oliver, called ‘Rush’ and commissioned by Pegasus Opera Company.
The CJC (Caribbean Jubilee Choir) will be performing on 3rd June in Bedford town centre at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm at different locations. We will then move to All Saint’s Church for an evening concert at 6.30pm where there will be an exhibition and talk related to the Queen’s Jubilee and the Windrush. We will be joined by opera singers from Pegasus Opera Company throughout the day.
There will be a zoom rehearsal on Tuesday 24th May 7pm – 8pm and a face-to-face rehearsal on Tuesday 31t May, one in the afternoon and one in the evening, times to be confirmed but the venue will be in Bedford.
Just Purple Presents aims to enrich the lives of all communities through art and culture by producing events, offering advice to small groups and marketing local BAME arts events. Just Purple Presents was founded by Johanne Hudson-Lett, who has worked in the arts for over 20 years for a range of organisations, including Local BBC Radio, Bedford Creative Arts and Music in Detention.
Johanne is currently a part-time freelancer for the UK Centre for Carnival Arts in the role of Marketing Manager & Learning & Participation Officer. Music has always played a major part in Johanne’s life and running a local children’s community choir has spurred her on to create JPP to offer professional opportunities to those who may be from disadvantaged backgrounds. As the Musical Director for Fusion Youth Choir and Band, Johanne is responsible for the repertoire covered and ensures that the young people sing and play music of all genres, from Stevie Wonder to Stephen Sondheim.
Johanne comes with over 20 years of work experience in the arts and media industry holding roles at the BBC in local radio as a presenter, Hear Me Out, running singing workshops in detention centres, community engagement officer for the UK Centre for Carnival Arts and currently working as the Senior Producer for Revoluton Arts. To create positive change and inspire communities, working together is a necessity. Let's do this!
